Sonia Alvarez is the Diversity Initiative Research Associate at the Georgetown University Center on Education and the Workforce. She supports the Staff Director in outreach, strategy, and developing resources for educators to reduce the information gap surrounding education and workforce demands. Additionally, Sonia administers CEW’s youth internship and serves as primary supervisor.
Before joining CEW, Sonia interned with the German Marshall Fund of the United States, the US Department of State, Asia Society Policy Institute, and the American Council on Germany. She also has over three years of experience working with Chinese and Nepali students seeking to apply to American universities. Before moving to DC, she spent three years living in Shanghai and a semester in Kathmandu. Sonia is passionate about increasing the accessibility to and understanding of higher education. Sonia holds a BA in International Relations from New York University Shanghai and is a current MA in Security Studies candidate at the Georgetown University Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service.
